The Artist and His River

Posted at 11:19:51 AM in John Hardy (6)
The river has long been the wellspring that inspired songs, poetry, epic drama, reflections, and works of art. In the Indonesian Island of Bali, John Hardy – world-renowned manufacturer of nature inspired designer jewelry, carries on this tradition of creative musings among talented artists. Its Kali collection, named after the Balinese term for river, draws inspiration from the steady streams of water that flows through the edges of the bustling John Hardy compound. The sterling silver pieces are cleverly decorated with black sapphire stones and fashioned to resemble the smooth patterns of riverbed pebbles like the ones that are so refreshing to walk on. As this refreshing pattern continues to gain popularity among jewelry connoisseurs and nature lovers, Head Designer Guy Bedarida expands the Kali collection to include other related natural themes like Zen gardens, yacht’s chains, and water flowing over rocks.

Keeping the Cycle in Motion

Posted at 12:19:52 PM in John Hardy (6)

Over the years, the bamboo has become one of the most symbolic designs of John Hardy jewelry, the jewelry designer and manufacturer based in the beautiful island of Bali in Indonesia. The iconic smooth stems and nodes of the bamboo are skillfully transferred by John Hardy local artisans into platinum, silver or gold that turn out to be best-selling pieces of contemporary jewelry. The Crossover Cuff of the Bamboo Collection is a light and ingenious design with dazzling white sapphires and expertly carved sterling silver. The crossover strands gives a solid yet natural feel to the whole piece, making it a perfect accessory for either casual or flamboyant affairs. Much more, with every purchase of the Crossover Cuff, the brand plants 8 bamboo seedlings in its Greener Everyday project.

Find out how you can get these beautiful artworks from nature, while giving back to her in return. Check out John Hardy at Shreve & co. in Post Street in San Francisco.

The brand's necklaces, earrings and bracelets made of sterling silver and 18k gold are embellished with colorful precious and semi-precious stones in ways that reflect its devotion for Asia and nature. Balinese Beauty

Posted at 8:04:33 PM in John Hardy (6)

John Hardy is renowned in the world for its contemporary, well-detailed fine jewelry. In the Bali community where the jewel maker’s headquarters sit, John Hardy is endeared to the locals for its caring support to the folks and the environment. The brand’s commitment as a green company comes from its long-standing affinity to nature and Asia’s rich culture, where it gets inspiration for most of its collections. This 18K golden Kick Cuff of the Naga Collection got its inspiration from the rich Balinese legend of the dragon. The revered mythical creature is believed to bring prosperity and is the central figure in a colorful Balinese tale of love and sacrifice. The piece is beautifully designed to resemble a dragon in motion, with skilfully crafted scale details. A Sustainable Luxury Brand with Asian Inspiration

Posted at 12:00:00 AM in John Hardy (6)

If you have the penchant for Asian designs and are adamant about the environment’s future, there is no brand more perfect than John Hardy. Taking inspirations from Bali in the mid 70’s, company founder John Hardy infused the island’s traditional jewelry making traditions with new design concepts. What resulted was magic and since 1996 Mumbai, Bali became the company’s production center where everything is created. And in 1999, there came a wonderful addition to the company in the person of Guy Bedarida – senior designer of haute joaillerie of the Place Vendome. He came in as Head Designer and broadened John Hardy’s design concepts with the inclusion of new nature-inspired motifs, European jewelry techniques, and ancient East Asian art. And just like Asian architecture and living, the company has exerted a behemoth effort to become carbon neutral. With the slogan “Greener Every Day”, John Hardy continues to make their processes greener. In 2006, John Hardy launched its “Sustainable Advertising” program. This aims to lessen carbon emissions from their business processes such as print advertising, travel and electrical consumption. John Hardy donates a portion of their proceeds from the sale of their Bamboo collection items to the bamboo planting activities they have been conducting under their “Wear Bamboo, Plant Bamboo” program. To look fabulous while not harming the environment, visit Shreve & Co. (authorized dealers) for John Hardy.

East Meets West

Posted at 12:00:00 AM in John Hardy (6)

Once, there was a Canadian artist and designer that toured Bali in the 1970’s. And like what Bali does to most people, he was enchanted. His interest forced him to stay and to learn the silver-smithing techniques of the locals. Some of them were descendants of artisans that made jewelry in the royal courts. This experience made it possible for John Hardy, above is his story, to apply new concepts to traditional Balinese jewelry making techniques. From then on, the founder became a brand; an icon to the world – an icon of "East-meets-West". Every piece is designed and intricately crafted in the brand’s compound in Bali. To this day, this mixing of traditions continues. Diversity is the mainstay in the John Hardy line and even in the company. Just like the stunning pieces of jewelry, the John Hardy team is compromised of talents from the East and West. The international management team members come from Europe, Australia, America and Asia. The virtuosos handling the pieces come from Bali, Sumatra, Java and other Indonesian islands. Many of them are from the lineage of artisans in the royal courts of Bali dating back to the time of kings. For jewelries that are fit for the ancient royal courts, visit Shreve & Co. – authorized dealer for John Hardy.
